Sadly our attempt to acquire the old Chagford Hydro Site was unsuccessful. Our maximum bid at the auction, which was based upon sound financial plans was insufficient.
The site has been bought on a 99 year lease by an Okehampton firm called Ashridge Engineering.
However, we have picked ourselves up and another possible hydro opportunity is currently being investigated. More news when we have something solid to tell you.
Now a little about the history of CASE.
CASE was formed in 2007 as a result of a series of studies undertaken by DARE - (Devon Action for Renewable Energy). These studies looked in detail at the specific opportunities for Wind, Hydro, Solar thermal, PV and Biomass as sources of Renewable Energy in the immediate environs of Chagford.
The Report was very positive and CASE was formed by a group of attendees at the final presentation by DARE. Our objective was - and still is - to try and make some of the opportunities happen !
Members of the group made it clear that they did not want regular and frequent meetings but preferred to keep in touch using the web.
