For many people who wish to make a more sustainable use of energy, heating your domestic hot water from the power of the sun is the best starting point.
Such systems are still relatively rare and many feel that until the industry has matured and UK production of systems has increased that entry price and the undoubted presence of 'cowboys' puts many people off.
CASE obtained a grant fund from the DNPA to assist households within the Whiddon Parishes in overcoming the entry price barrier. This has allowed us to support the installation of 16 new systems. This brings the total number of known installations within Chagford itself to 18.
Photographs and technical details (including cost) of all the systems that have received our grant can be viewed by clicking on the link.
The previously available government grant of £400 has now ceased and all Solar Hot Water installations completed after July 2009 by approved installers will be eligible for an annual payment based upon the size of the installation. Payments will start in 2011. More details to follow.
